An exclusive visit to the studio of the  photographer Frank Horvat

Frank Horvat needs no introduction - one of the most famous classics of 20th century photography, he has been called the Leonardo Da Vinci of photography. Like a Renaissance man - a universal man, Horvat was successful in all genres - reportage photographer, master of street photography, conceptual photographer.

His recent exhibition at Jeu de Paume, during which his work graced the Paris metro stations, had a huge success.

He has worked for magazines such as Life, Elle, Réalités, Vogue, Harper's Bazaar, Glamour and Jardin des Modes, and was one of the first artists to use the 35mm film camera and reportage methodology in artistic fashion photography, which began in the late 1950s.

The Program

We will have the unique opportunity to visit Horvat's studio in Boulogne-Billancourt, where he built his ideal workshop - a black cube with windows facing north.

It completes his archives as well as his personal collection of photography, which he collected over 30 years. After the photographer's passing in October 2020, the archive is being handled by his daughter Fiammetta Horvath, who will meet us at the studio.

We will be guided there by Sidonie Gaychet, photography expert, curator, gallerist and founder of her own gallery. She will talk about Horvath's work, his contribution to world photography, and together with Fiammetta Horvat will introduce us to the great master's archives.
